Being an Example

I wrote this three months ago, but for some reason I never posted it.

Serving with the youth is a wonderful experience. I don't know if it's specifically that or just where I am in life, but I feel more inclined to keep my standards high in order to be an example to my young women. For instance, how could I justify to them the fact that I watch an occasional R-rated movie? I can justify it to myself by looking into the content of a particular film and knowing exactly where my line is (and, having prayed about one film in particular because I loved it so much and didn't see anything wrong with it but still felt guilty, I know that Heavenly Father cares less about the MPAA's skewed ratings than the content and message), but that's not something I can explain easily to the youth without sounding like I'm rationalizing. At the least I need to avoid new entertainment that could be a bad example to my young women.

It amazes me how intelligent and spiritually adept some of these girls are. My roommate Cathy has seen it in her seminary students, and I see it now with the young women. The last days are truly hastening near, and we need to be more and more prepared at a younger age.
